A two-pack of *delicious* high-quality olive oils (an everyday for cooking, baking, etc. and a ~select~ for dipping and finishing), because the better your ingredients, the better your results.

Oleamea, BuzzFeed / Maitland Quitmeyer

“I recently tried this olive oil duo from Oleamea, a small, woman-owned Turkish olive oil brand, and it is MIGHTY delicious. Without doing a Williams Sonoma oil oil sample taste test, it can be hard to find a super flavorful olive oil when you’re just at the grocery store, and when it comes to drizzling and dipping, flavor matters. The everyday oil is very delicious (certainly way better than the usual stuff I have around the house) and would be great for dipping and serving on its own, but the select is the star of the show, very rich and flavorful without being super pungent or peppery. Oleamea says it has “aromatic notes of fresh cut grass and hints of green banana to perfectly balance the distinct peppery bitterness” — tbh I can’t identify any of that but all I know is it is FANCY and TASTY and 10/10 will continue to drizzle.

My go-to afternoon snack of grocery store hummus, toasted pita, and veggies is now majorly upgraded with a sprinkle of za’atar seasoning mix and a hefty drizzle of the select oil. Am I enjoying a mezze plate at a restaurant happy hour or eating while hovering over my laptop? Guess we’ll never know. I can’t *wait* for the summer weather to stock up on some farmer’s market tomatoes for an at-home caprese salad drizzled with this. And next time I pick up a pint of Good vanilla ice cream, I’m going to get real fancy and pour a bit of the select oil on top, plus a little Maldon flaky salt.” —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get the two pack from Oleamea for $20.99 or from Amazon for $27.99 (bottles can also be bought individually on both sites).

A shampoo and conditioner set specifically designed for oily roots (from a new brand from Harry’s that focuses on scalp health) to keep your hair moisturized but NOT weighed down or greasy.

A hand holding the shampoo with text "the only shampoo that doesn't make my hair greasy after 12 hours"

BuzzFeed / AnaMaria Glavan

“If you have hair that gets greasy a mere 12 hours after bathing, please hear me out: the Headquarters for oily roots line is your new holy grail and it costs less than $8 per product. To give you a little more context, my hair is best described as boring. It’s thin! It’s straight! I literally have to use dry shampoo every single day of my life! Which is why I was so damn excited about this exfoliating scrub and cleansing wash.

First off, the grapefruit and basil scents are fantastic. I would bathe in it. I want a candle that smells like it. The scent is distinct without being overpowering, and it provides *just* the right amount of aromatherapy without overwhelming my very small, very poorly ventilated bathroom. The scrub feels like putty in your hands and doesn’t feel harsh on my scalp; the shampoo lathers beautifully, even though it doesn’t use sulfates or silicones. Once my hair was dry, I immediately got that just-bown-out bounce that you leave the salon with — when your hair is so clean that it feels like air. The best part… it’s extended the time I can go between washing my hair and my scalp genuinely feels clean. I can usually get away with washing my hair every other day (thank you, Aveda dry shampoo powder) but can now go two days *without* relying on dry shampoo! And with dry shampoo? Three days! And if you have oily hair like me… you know how ludicrously good that is.

TLDR; this line has been my favorite new haircare find in a while, and the brand itself has dedicated lines for oily, balanced, and dry scalps (their tagline is being ~obsessed with roots~) to ensure you’re getting the most targeted treatment possible. AND IT’S AFFORDABLE.” —AnaMaria Glavan

Get the shampoo and conditioner from Headquarters for $7.50 each.

P.S. They also make collections for balanced and dry scalps too!

A set of Zip Top silicone containers to kiss your disposable plastic bags goodbye once and for all. These air-tight beauties zip closed with a quick pinch, keep food fresh, pour easily, AND the flat bottomed-ones stand open on the countertop for super easy filling (other reusable bags *wish* they could).

BuzzFeed / Maitland

“If you’re looking for a set of reusable bags to reduce your waste, look no further. This Zip Top silicone set is just about perfect. The eight-piece full set comes with cups (with circular flat bottoms), dishes (with elongated flat bottoms) and bags (for easy taking to-go without taking up a bunch of room). They’re airtight, and just EASY PEASY to use — aka I don’t have to track down a matching lid. Half-eaten oranges, leftover crepe batter, granola, all live handily in these pretty lavender containers. The pointed sides make for effortless pouring — everything from shaking granola into my morning yogurt to dispensing thin crepe batter into a pan for a weekend breakfast.

They’re dishwasher-safe (on the top AND bottom racks), freezer-safe, AND microwave safe, so you can truly say goodbye forever to disposable bags. They haven’t retained any sorts of staining or smells and wash up beautifully. At just over $11 a pop when you break it down, they’re not *cheap* but when you add up box after box after box of plastic bags, you’ll make up for the cost in no time flat. I haven’t been ~on the go~ much in the past year (🙃), but when I do I’ll definitely use these to bring snacks to the office. And they come in pretty pastel colors that personally just make me happy to look at in my fridge.” —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get a set of eight from Amazon for $89.99 (available in five colors, plus individually and in smaller sets).

A Krave Beauty matcha hemp cleanser and oat moisturizer set, because this brand is allllll over TikTok, and it turns out that’s for a reason — if you’re looking for a basic skincare routine that’ll be kind to your skin, start here.

The tube of cleanser and jar of cream

Celina De Jesus / BuzzFeed

“For me, this is hands-down the best cleanser for my acne-prone skin. It has never made my face feel tight after rinsing off and that’s always been a huge problem for me . After a good two months I noticed the matcha cleanser and Oat So simple moisturizer truly changed the texture of my skin, from feeling dry and flaky to moisturized and balanced. These products don’t claim to do anything life changing, it’s meant to be a go to-for when you want a soothing basic skincare routine and it does just that! The only downfall is that it is not sold in stores and I would prefer to be able to pick it up, instead of waiting days for it to be delivered. Please try this immediately!” —Celina De Jesus

Get them from Krave Beauty: the matcha cleanser for $16 and the oat moisturizer for $28.

A bag of chile- and hibiscus powder–dusted mango to change up your snacking game for the better. These are sweet, salty, spicy to hit *all* your cravings with each bite.

NatureBox, Jonathan Mazzei

“I vowed that I was gonna savor these, but after tasting them, all self control went out the window. I’ve tried a variety of dried chili mango snacks, and these rank high among the best I’ve had! The combination of hibiscus and chili powder makes for a very tasty seasoning that perfectly compliments the excellent mango flavor without overpowering it. For me, they have the perfect balance of spicy, salty, and sweet that makes you just wanna keep eating them until they’re gone. Fortunately, the bags contain a good amount, and include a nice mix of fairly giant pieces as well as more bite-sized ones that just go down so easily. This stuff is truly nature’s candy, and I’d still be eating some right now if I didn’t just demolish a second bag of them, whoops.” —Jonathan Mazzei

Get a pack from Naturebox for $11.99 (or $8.99 if you’re a member).

A pack of BH Cosmetics’ *very* cute acne patches if you’re looking to shrink a few pimples and feel adorable while doing it. And who DOESN’T, amirite?

Katy Herman/BuzzFeed

“I have written at length about how Nexcare patches are the holy grail of pimple patches, and my opinion has not changed after trying BH Cosmetics’ new hydrocolloid offering. HOWEVER, even I will admit that Nexcare patches are not exactly…cute. They do not inspire selfie taking or Instagram story posting in the way that these BH cuties do (I got the pack with purple flowers, silver butterflies, and pink hearts, but there are several options). I also think these would be a better pick for people who are low-key grossed out by regular pimple patches. Personally, I LIVE for the moment when I take one off after hours of wear and see all the goop its extracted from my pores, but said goop is much, much less visible with these if that is not your grossly satisfying cup of tea. These are also much thinner than other patches I’ve used — they feel more like a regular sticker. Because of this, I was pretty skeptical that they would work, but they really do shrink zits. Like all acne patches, they work on pimples with a head, not the more cystic, swollen variety. It’s not a magic vanishing act, but all of the whiteheads I’ve put them on this week have been smaller and flatter when I took them off hours later. That + cuteness + vegan and cruelty-free = a win.” —Katy Herman

Get a pack of 12 from BH Cosmetics for $9 (available in three packs).

A mini gold vermeil paperclip necklace for a combination of ~dainty and on-trend~ that makes it perfect for everyday wear — even in the shower.

BuzzFeed / Maitland Quitmeyer

Paperclip chains are a really big trend right now, and finding nice jewelry you can wear with confidence every day but ISN’T a huge investment when you get tired of it can be a challenge. But demi-fine jewelry (like Baublebar’s gold vermeil) is here for us when we need it. If you don’t know, gold vermeil is an extra-thick plating (2.5 microns in this case) that’s longer lasting than regular gold plating. That means you can get it wet! Ocean water and heavier shampoos, etc. will break the plating down faster, but you can *live* in this jewelry without worrying about it getting ruined. I’ve worn this necklace while working out (altho my workouts are less….intense than some — I hate working out) and in the shower (but not when I wash my hair, which is about once a week) and there have been no signs of wear and tear on the necklace at all.

I love that the necklace is the same kind of chain the *whole length* so you can make it as long or short as you like, depending how you wear it. Necklaces you can only clip at the tail are so annoying. I’ll be wearing this all the time to just feel a smidge more put together, even when I’m rocking up to my Google Meetings in my actual PJs. The only thing to keep in mind is that it is a very *gold* gold so I don’t wear it with some of my other…less gold? gold jewelry. But if you like to mix and match, it will look great with your other pieces!” —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get it from BaubleBar for $78 (also available in sterling silver for the same price, and in gold- and silver-plated brass for $42).

A Dr. Brite elecrtic toothbrush with a timer to tell you when to move to a different ~mouth quadrant~, four cleaning modes (including gentle gum care), and sonic vibrations for super-clean chompers. Why are you using a manual toothbrush again?!

Taylor Steele/BuzzFeed, Dr. Brite

How have I gone my entire life without this? Really. I can’t believe I’ve been relying on my own poorly choreographed circular and angular strokes.

All of that is to say, I love this toothbrush. It uses advanced sonic technology offering four cleaning modes to choose from; personally, I like the gentleness of the gum care mode. My favorite thing about it, though, is that it operates in four 30 second intervals. At the end of each interval, it buzzes to inform you that it’s time to move to another part of your mouth. Because who’s really making sure they brush their teeth for exactly two minutes? And when you’re done, you just place it back in its charging pod until the next time you need it.

I can tell I’m getting such a deeper clean than I used to get with manual toothbrushes, and I can never go back. Plaque has met its match with Dr. Brite.” —Taylor Steele

Get it from Dr. Brite for $149.99.

A 12-pack of Rise Brewing Co’s Oat Milk Mocha Nitro Cold Brew Latte, because this nondairy caffeinated treat is the perfect blend of scrumptious and energizing.

Reviewer holding a can of the drink

Rachel Dunkel / BuzzFeed

“Do you love coffee? Do you love chocolate milk? Do you love not having an upset tummy after drinking chocolate milk? Rise’s Nitro Oat Milk Mocha is almost definitely for you. We all agree that oat milk is non-dairy milk in its highest form, and it really shines in this tasty concoction. The coffee flavor is subtle, but this definitely gives you a nice little caffeine boost, which for me is always appreciated. That basically makes this canned chocolate oat milk, which is tbh scrumptious. I don’t have problems with dairy, my partner does, and we both consume these with equal ferocity and delight. If you’re looking for an easy go-to caffeine boost, a perfect dairy-free treat, or a break from your usual coffee routine, definitely check out Rise.” —Rachel Dunkel

An individual bouquet or flower subscription from BloomsyBox to cheer up your home (or the home of a loved one), because there’s not much that’s more cheerful than fresh blooms.

Kayla Suazo / BuzzFeed

“I always have fresh flowers in my apartment. Always. I started doing this years ago, and never really stopped. So much so, that I often have multiple bouquets of flowers scattered throughout different rooms. I tried Bloomsybox (because, duh!), and was *thrilled* with my first bouquet from them (pictured above!). I had never tried a subscription service before — like, how could one possibly ship flowers in the mail and they arrive in tact?! But boy, was I wrong. These flowers were so carefully packaged. The bigger flowers were wrapped in netting to protect their petals, and the entire bouquet was securely fastened to the box so there was no shifting around. And they were so fresh, that the lilies themselves have yet to bloom. I love that these flowers feel like a step up from what you can get at the grocery store, and just the option to subscribe or send as individual bouquets means I know what I will be gifting everyone (and myself!) from now on!” —Kayla Suazo

Get flowers from BloomsyBox: an individual bouquet for $49.99+ or subscribe weekly or monthly for $43.99+. Individual plants are also available for purchase!

A Leatherman P4 multitool with a whopping 21 TOOLS built right in so you can tackle tons of daily tasks and problems without having to run to your junk drawer or toolkit.

John Mihaly / BuzzFeed

When my Leatherman went missing for a few months, I finally realized what a time-saver it was. Instead of grabbing the multitool from the junk drawer, I’d now have to drag my heavy metal toolbox from the back of the closet, no matter the size of the job. Such is apartment living.

So when the kind folks at Leatherman offered to let me test the Leatherman Free P4 Multitool, I couldn’t reply to the email fast enough. This gorgeous stainless steel model (that’s made in the U-S-of-A) is bigger than the one I lost and packs in 21 different tools including pliers, wire cutters, knives, a saw, scissors, screwdrivers, and package and bottle openers to name a few. Plus it comes with a nylon sheath with a belt loop so I can look like even more of a dad.

If you’re not looking to invest in a fully-stocked toolbox just yet (again, apartment living) please don’t buy that one from Ikea that everyone gets when they move in and leaves when they move out. Go for the Leatherman instead. Consider it an investment for that future toolbox. —John Mihaly

An Always Pan designed to do the work of EIGHT pieces of regular old cookware — it comes with a lockable lid, steamer basket, pouring spout, and a nesting spatula with a built-in rest.

The pan in green with sausage and veggies inside

Our Place

“Lemme walk you through why this is the best gift for yourself or basically anyone who has ever lifted a spatula. This gorgeous 10-inch pan actually does the work of eight kitchen tools: fry pan, sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula, and spoon rest. OK, OK, so yes, mostly it just does the job of A Regular Pan. But it has cool features! It has a spout on the side for easy pouring and releasing steam (simply spin the lid so the holes line up). The handle rests on the handle and fits neatly inside the pan, so no spoon rest is needed. It comes with a stainless steel steamer basket for easy steaming. It’s just a nice, thoughtful pan in general that’s worth the extra cash.

It’s made with high-quality materials, and the attention to detail really shows in the finished product. Sometimes I just hold mine and sigh over how nice it is! Sorry if that’s lame, but it is the truth. I am in love with my pan. The pan sports non-toxic, nonstick ceramic coating made without potentially toxic materials (lead, cadmium, nanoparticles, etc.). It has an aluminum body for a fast, even heat. It’s large, but (relatively) lightweight, so I always find it’s the first pan I grab. The accompanying spatula is made with beechwood that’s gentle on the nonstick coating but durable. And the best part? It’s sooo easy to clean! The pan comes with a wimpy-looking natural sponge but it actually works. Even burnt, caked-on food kinda just slides off this thing. Seriously, only one swipe of the sponge needed! The one thing I will say is that the coating does come off easily, so keep it away metal utensils, be gentle when cleaning, and definitely don’t put it in the oven.” —Bek O’Connell

Get it from Our Place for $145 (available in five colors). Just note that it will ship mid-February!

Several members of the BuzzFeed Shopping team now own and love this (including myself) — 10/10 recommend!

Our Place is a POC-owned business based in Los Angeles. All of their boxes are packaged with biodegradable and recyclable materials, and the Always Pan is made in a female-owned factory in China.
