If you’re a Spotify user, you might’ve noticed your K-Pop playlists sounded a bit different this week. That’s because hundreds of K-Pop songs were removed from the platform this week after Kakao M’s catalogue was pulled from the music streaming service. Dreamcatcher, Seventeen, Cherry Bullet, Epik High, Mamamoo are just a few of the artists affected by the removal.

A spokesperson for Spotify told NME that the reason behind the removal of songs was because “due to the expiration of our licence.”

“The fact that we have not yet reached agreement on a new global deal is unfortunate for their artists, as well as for fans and listeners worldwide. It is our hope that this disruption will be temporary and we can resolve the situation soon. We remain committed to working with local rights holders including KakaoM, to help grow the Korean music market and overall streaming ecosystem together,” they told NME.

Earlier this week, Epik High’s Tablo voiced his disappointment over the group’s albums being removed from the platform, tweeting: “Apparently a disagreement between our distributor Kakao M & Spotify has made our new album Epik High Is Here unavailable globally against our will. Regardless of who is at fault, why is it always the artists and the fans that suffer when businesses place greed over art?”

~Duh!~ Park Chanyeol will make his debut as a leading actor this month with the release of the upcoming musical, The Box, on Mar. 24. The film’s story centers around an aspiring musician named Ji-hoon (Park Chanyeol) who is scouted by a down-on-his-luck music producer named Min-soo (Jo Dal Hwan).

Released on Mar. 1, the film’s first teaser trailer shows Chanyeol performing an incredible cover of Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” with a live band. A full version of the trailer was later released on Mar. 4 and can be watched here.

While this might be Chanyeol’s first leading role in a film, this isn’t his first time acting. In 2016, he starred in the hilarious rom-com So I Married An Anti-Fan and has gone on to have multiple roles in popular K-Dramas including Missing 9 and Memories of the Alhambra. I can’t wait to see his performance in The Box soon too!
