Based on Prayaag Akbar’s novel of the same name, Leila is set in a dystopian future, not very different from the one in which we are currently living, and follows the trials and tribulations of Shalini, who is in search of her missing daughter in an authoritarian world called Aryavarta. Aarya

Disney+ Hotstar

To a layperson, Aarya Sareen lives the ideal life with her perfect family. The reality, however, is a case of “all that glitters is not gold”. With the ICONIC Sushmita Sen in the titular role, Aarya is a thriller replete with plot-twists and back-stabbing relatives. It will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat.

Churails

Zindagi / ZEE5

A fabulously feminist web series from Pakistan, Churails documents the lives of four women who get together to form a detective agency that exposes the many rich and unfaithful husbands of Karachi. Their investigations lead to consequences that none of them could have ever imagined. Every single performance — right from Sarwat Gilani’s Sara Khan to Nimra Bucha’s Batool — is rock solid and so is the title track.

Ladies Room

Y-Films

Best friends Dingo (Saba Azad) and Khanna (Shreya Dhanwanthary) have six deep (and hilarious) conversations about pot, pregnancy, judgemental people, life secrets, ex-boyfriends, and unemployment — in six different loos. This is the kind of “toilet humour” we deserve.

10.

Pushpavalli

Prime Video

Created by Sumukhi Suresh, Pushpavalli is a toxic, manipulative stalker, who you sometimes can’t help but root for. This is owing to the fact that she also loathes the way she is — largely because she is conditioned to do so by a society that clearly has no place for women who do not meet its dictated beauty standards. Sumukhi is marvellous as the titular character and so are Naveen Richard and Shraddha as Pankaj and Vasu.
