There are two types of people in the world: those who watched Dance Moms for the drama and those who watched it for the dancing.

While the show did sometimes make you question your morals, there was also a lot of beauty within the choreography and the girls’ relationships with each other.

And with 229 episodes, there were truly so MANY good dances on the show.

Abby would probably put me at the bottom of the pyramid for this, but here are the 21 best dances on Dance Moms, ranked:

21.

“Dream on a Star” (Season 1, Episode 10)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Baby Chloe was almost flawless in this dance and she never got enough credit.

20.

“Disappear” (Season 1, Episode 10)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

A true testament to Maddie’s skill level at only eight years old.

19.

“Black Swan” (Season 1, Episode 11)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Maddie and Chloe had a million excellent duets, but this one stands out for displaying their raw talent at such young ages.

18.

“The Journey” (Season 7, Episode 10)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

By far one of Kendall’s best solos, if not her best.

17.

“Boom Boom” (Season 5, Episode 3)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

This is when Kenzie truly started dancing like she could never run out of stamina. Her facials were spot on.

16.

“Bully” (Season 6, Episode 16)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Another Mackenzie solo that proved to everyone she’s the queen of hip-hop out of the group.

15.

“Twilight” (Season 2, Episode 20)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Each dancer had a chance at a mini solo throughout this dance and they all passed with flying colors.

14.

“Maya Angelou” (Season 4, Episode 28)

Grace Faith / Via youtube.com

Nia is brilliant at acting in her performances and this solo showed off her strength, grace and acting abilities.

13.

“Beautiful Bizarre” (Season 5, Episode 23)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

IDK how they flipped their hair so much without getting dizzy, but bravo. The moves were also unlike any of their other dances.

12.

“Sink or Swim” (Season 5, Episode 23)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Kenz placed first AND beat Maddie’s tap solo so this was an iconic moment.

11.

“Stomp the Yard” (Season 5, Episode 2)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Another group dance that stood out for its ~unique~ costume, theme and choreography.

10.

“Amber Alert” (Season 4, Episode 31)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

All of the girls’ acting was stellar in this performance, but Mackenzie was a stand out.

9.

“Happiness” (Season 4, Episode 25)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Probably the most quintessential “Maddie” dance and she executed it flawlessly.

8.

“The Investment” (Season 5, Episode 27)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

This was not an Abby Lee choreographed dance and it shows. Kalani demonstrated her insane flexibility and strength.

7.

“Bittersweet Charity” (Season 6, Episode 9)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Personally, one of my favorite dances this group has ever done. They made complete use of the prop, they sold their characters and they look like legit showgirls.

6.

“Two Sapphires” (Season 4, Episode 7)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Their costumes are beautiful and they are just so incredibly in synch.

5.

“The Atlantic” (Season 6, Episode 17)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Honestly, one of the most beautiful group dances they’ve ever done. Their costumes were simple — so their dancing could speak for itself.

4.

“Boss Ladies” (Season 6, Episode 18)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Ok, well obviously this one had to make the list because the group was challenged with a hip-hop routine and were complete FIRE.

3.

“Say Something, Say Anything” (Season 7, Episode 10)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Kalani’s technique remained consistently amazing throughout the show and this winning solo is a prime example.

2.

“The Hostage” (Season 6, Episode 18)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Maddie’s final solo on Dance Moms and also one of her best.

1.

“The Waiting Room” (Season 5, Episode 31)

Lifetime / Via youtube.com

Abby Lee loves a heart-wrenching, drama-filled dance and this one is no exception. The part where Kalani walks across the chairs gives me literal chills. It’s just so good.
