Lizzo has kicked off her holiday celebrations early, posting a video to Instagram on Sunday of the moment she surprised her mom with a brand new car for Christmas.

The “Truth Hurts” singer explained in her Instagram caption that she’s always hoped to use her success to help provide for her family.
“I remember crying in my car when my daddy passed,” she wrote. “No job, no money, nowhere to live, wishing I could one day provide for my family.”

“I couldn’t do it for my dad so I’ma make sure I spoil Mama,” Lizzo added.
She finished her message: “Happy holidays y’all.”
Lizzo’s father died in 2009, when she was 21 years old. Last year, on the anniversary of his death, she wrote on Instagram that while she quit singing after he died, she was finally “the superstar he worked so hard for [her] to become.”
