Paramount Pictures
“At one point, he acted like he didn’t even know Sandy — and for what? He deserved to get that car door slammed on him. He and his friends were also really rude to Eugene! I’m not saying they have to like him, but still.”
2.
Dolores Umbridge, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Warner Bros.
“Voldemort and the Malfoys are undoubtedly asshats, no doubt, but that ‘woman’ was just pure icy coldness.”
4.
Kate, Last Christmas (2019)
Universal Pictures
“I love Emilia Clarke, but that character was so whiny and annoying. I couldn’t even feel bad for her, and that kind of ruined the movie for me because the character was so awful.”
5.
President Snow, The Hunger Games (2012)
Lionsgate Films
“Even just looking at him made me want to punch him in the face.”
6.
Andie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Paramount Pictures
“I get that it was a part of her job, but she was kind of just preying on Ben, who was so nice! What really got me was that she never felt remorse for anything she did!”
7.
Denethor, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
New Line Cinema
“10/10 would set fire to and push off of a building.”
8.
Colonel Tavington, The Patriot (2000)
Sony Pictures Releasing
“He killed Heath Ledger’s character with no regard, burned a church full of people down, and was a general barbarian on the battlefield. Zero redeeming qualities.”
9.
Meredith, The Parent Trap (1998)
Buena Vista Pictures Distribution
“Whenever she was in a scene, I would walk out of the room in anger!”
10.
Grandpa Joe, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Paramount Pictures
“He was bedridden for 20 years while his family suffered in extreme poverty, only to be up and dancing when a candy factory tour was mentioned?! And don’t even get me started on his ‘tobacco money!'”
11.
Christian Grey, Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Universal Pictures
“He is a manipulative, emotionally abusive asshole who did not deserve Anna.”
12.
Mary, Precious (2009)
Lionsgate
“She blamed everything on her daughter and continued to let her be abused. She’s an evil being for blaming Precious for her own abuse. I hate that woman with everything in my body.”
13.
Eli Sunday, There Will Be Blood (2007)
Paramount Vantage
“I couldn’t wait for him to die. Literally, couldn’t wait.”
15.
Cal Hockley, Titanic (1997)
Paramount Pictures
“He is the absolute worst. He tries to control everything Rose does (stopping her smoking, choosing what she eats, criticizing her love of art, etc.) and he literally slaps her in one scene. Then, he pretends to care about that crying child just to save his own skin. Ugh. Just ugh.”
16.
Mother Gothel, Tangled (2010)
Walt Disney Studios
“That child-stealing, passive-aggressive witch! She makes me so angry!”
17.
Commodus, Gladiator (2000)
DreamWorks Pictures
“He was absolutely awful. He made me so uncomfortable. Every time he was on screen, my stomach actually turned. Joaquin Phoenix, the writers, and the director did an excellent job making that character an absolutely vile human being. Like, that movie is borderline unwatchable for me because of him.”
18.
Biff, Back to the Future (1985)
Universal Pictures
“The man was a straight-up rapist, and he’s not even really all that enjoyable to watch as a villain. He’s not smart enough to secretly root for, he just sucks.”
19.
Jim, Edward Scissorhands (1990)
20th Century Fox
“He has no sad backstory or anything, he’s just this rich kid who’s a total jerk to Edward.”
20.
The Trunchbull, Matilda (1996)
Sony Pictures Releasing
“I should think this one requires no further explanation.”
21.
Ben, He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)
Warner Bros. Pictures
“He made my blood BOIL. I wanted to punch him in the face so many times during that movie. The way he treated his wife? He blatantly cheated on her and lied to her face with no remorse! It was disgusting. She deserved so much better than him, and he still tried to justify all of his actions and play the victim. I don’t know if a single other character has made me more furious in a film because it was SO realistic and reminded me of so many men I know.”
22.
Guy Woodhouse, Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
Paramount Pictures
“He allowed the Devil to rape and impregnate his wife in exchange for a film career. He was a complete sociopath.”
23.
Wild Bill, The Green Mile (1999)
Warner Bros. Pictures
“He made my skin crawl, but I guess that also just goes to show how massively underrated Sam Rockwell is as an actor.”
24.
Nurse Ratched, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
United Artists
“She was a manipulative megalomaniac and treated the patients under her care with contempt (at best) and outright cruelty (at worst). It was particularly hateful because her character subverted all our expectations of a nurse!”
25.
Gabbar Singh, Sholay (1975)
Sippy Films
“This may be really obscure for a lot of people since it’s a Bollywood film, but for those who are curious, Gabbar and his gang are terrorizing a village where a retired policeman who tried to catch Gabbar lives. Seriously, that villain is probably the most terrifying one I’ve ever seen in a movie. Fortunately, he got what he deserved in the end.”
26.
Corinne, Flowers in the Attic (1987)
New World Pictures
“Her total abandonment of her kids and, ultimately, her attempts to poison them (with success in one aspect) were despicable.”
27.
And finally — Donald Trump, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
20th Century Fox
“He was only in it for a few seconds, but he played himself and I hate that bitch with all of my heart.”
