Dolly Parton is so humble! Due to the current state of the world, she asked Tennessee legislatures to stop all discussions about erecting a statue in her honor.

“I am honored and humbled by their intention but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration,” she said on Instagram.

“Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” she continued.

“I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I’m gone if you still feel I deserve it,” Parton added. “Then I’m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.”

Representative John Mark Windle sponsored the bill that aims to create a statue of Parton near Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

But since Parton decided to pause the bill, she said she will “continue to try to do good work” to make her hometown proud. And that’s why her fans love her so much.
