A paper roll dispenser so you can have all the play time and none of the messy cleanup time after.

two kids using the paper roll to draw together

Amazon

“The main reason I love this thing is that it can be as big or small as you want — and can set up anywhere. Just roll the paper out the length of whatever flat surface you’d like. I also find it’s easier for little hands to draw on these in general. They can use two hands, and since the paper lays flat — instead of at the easel angle — markers don’t run off. When you’re not using it, it’s easy to stash it away since it’s not obtrusive.” —Melissa Jameson

Get it from Amazon for $11.78 (originally $16.99).

“Listen, there is no faster way to lose (usually) one if not both of your expensive wireless earbuds than by having a small baby/toddler/child in your home. Whether they’re in your ears or their little charging case, your kid will grab them and hide them from you, constantly. Or at the very least put them in their mouth. These Beats truly travel as a pair and won’t get far because they wrap around your neck. As any new-ish parent will tell you, getting some rare time to listen to some tunes or podcasts is a treat. Don’t waste a precious second looking all over the place for your earphones.” —John Mihaly

Get it from Amazon for $49.99 (available in two colors).

Book Of The Month

“When I first heard about Book of the Month Club, I was skeptical. I can figure out what to read on my own, tyvm! But it’s more than just ‘let this company send you a random book.’ You get to pick one of five books each month (or skip a month if nothing calls to you) and then you get a nice hardcover book in the mail. My favorite so far has been Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: a fantasy thriller that imagines what it would be like if Yale’s secret societies actually dabbled in black magic. I devoured it in almost one sitting. If you love ghosts, a reluctant Scooby gang, and a scathing critique of Ivy League classism, I highly recommend this engrossing read.” —Bek O’Connell

Rothy’s

“I got this pair of flats in 2017 and reviewed ‘em back then, but I recommend them any chance I get. Name any OTHER brand of flats that you can wear up and down the streets of NYC for three years and have them look (and smell) basically the same as they did on day one. They’re comfortable, breathable, machine and hand-washable, and while they have basically no arch support, I’ve used ‘em with these inserts with no problems.” —Natalie Brown

A tube of liquid lash extensions mascara that’ll bring your lashes to a whole new level, literally.

BuzzFeed writer showing sparse lashes at first, then showing lashes looking long and fanned-out after applying the mascara

Jasmin Suknanan / BuzzFeed

“OK, fine I’ll admit it: I’m a mascara snob. My natural lashes are on the longer side, but I definitely like that eyelash extension-look, so I always seek volume, pigment, and extra length in my mascaras. Because of this, I tend to hate a lot of mascaras I try, and when I do find one I like, I cling to it for dear life. I came across Thrive’s mascara on Instagram and saw the length and volume it gave some woman in their video and added to cart instantly. Y’all, I’ve been using this mascara every day since and it hasn’t failed to give me suuuuper long, fanned out, volumized lashes! People ask me all the time if I’m wearing eyelash extensions, so I’d definitely say I got what I wanted out of this mascara — even my guy friends are mesmerized by how well it accentuates my eyes. Plus, no flaking, clumping, or smudging! I’ve started limiting my eye makeup to just a skin tone eyeshadow and this mascara to REALLY show off my lashes. So glad my $24 didn’t leave my bank account in vain!” —Jasmin Suknanan

Get it from Thrive Cosmetics for $24.

Amazon

“I got these boots fall of last year and I wore them, this is not an exaggeration, every SINGLE day until summer. I wanted one pair of black boots that would work with everything I own. I put that to the test and wore these with, get this, everything I own. I live in New York, walk at least two miles every day, and did that in these through all the very worst weather. I don’t want to be dramatic but I’d trade in my brother for these shoes (the annoying one, that is).” —Mal Mower

Get them from Amazon for $56.87+ (available in sizes 5–12 and two colors).

A pair of marble leggings because Zoom yoga and that jog around the block deserve to feel as much fun as you are having.

The tights in marble blue and pink and purple with a white base

Terez

“I absolutely LOVE the color and pattern to them. They really are a statement legging, in the best way possible. Plus, the waistband is extra wide, so the minute I slip them on, I feel super supported and comfortable. There’s a bit of a shine to the leggings, but they still have a great stretch to them and let you move. I’ve done some pretty intense workouts in these, and they’ve stayed up and moved with me. Honestly, they’re so beautiful and cool, I want to wear them all the time.” —Abby Kass

A set of organic cotton mediterranean towels that’ll make your bath time feel as luxurious as you deserve it to be. These are made from super fast drying material and you’ll want to take it everywhere you go.

a stack of folded towels

Coyuchi

“I own this and it’s been quite resilient over the four or so years I’ve had it. It’s incredibly easy to pack, absorbent enough to towel off quickly at the beach or after a shower, and will air dry faster than others. In addition to it being my go-to beach towel, I also use it as a bathroom towel while not living my best life on vacation. While on my most recent vacation, another person on the trip bought a similar style towel at a local shop that turned out to be as absorbent as a bed sheet. I know it is NOT a cheap towel, but if you LOVE packing light and/or care about how/where your purchases are sourced, this is a solid buy! It’s 100% organic cotton grown and woven in the Aegean region of Turkey, and GOTS-certified.” —Elizabeth Lilly

Get a variety of sizes from Coyuchi ranging from $8+ (available in five styles and five colors).

The band doesn’t mess up my hair, the cushions are comfortable, and it’s designed with enough space for long eyelashes to blink comfortably. Last year I went to the ‘haunted’ Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast and threw this on before bed so I wouldn’t wake up and be spooked by a shadow in the night. With this comfortable cushion on? I slept like the dead.” —Mal Mower

A champagne stopper so all that holiday bubbly doesn’t go to waste!

Maitland / BuzzFeed

“I love bubbles — champs, cava, prosecco, sparkling rose — they just know how to bring the party! But no one likes when sparkling wine goes flat, or you feel like you can’t just have one or two glasses without ruining the whole bottle. So when I embarked on a ‘I want to have Aperol spritzes at home’ quest, I quickly realized I needed a solution. When you add the Aperol (duh) and the soda water, it takes a whole lot of spritzes to finish a bottle of bubbly. So I went on Amazon and found the best champagne stopper I could find and immediately hit ‘add to cart.’

What a great purchase! This little bb is so easy to use — just pop it on top of the bottle, push the metal sides in so it clamps on, then push the top button several times to vacuum seal and preserve the bubs. Then when you next want a glass, spritz, or mimosa, you’ll hear that same *POP* you heard when first taking out the cork — and the effervescence you so crave will be fully intact. Plus, you can confidently store your leftover bottle on its side in your fridge; I’ve had zero leakage problems with this thus far!” —Maitland Quitmeyer

Get it from Amazon for $10.97.

A wholesome dog treat for the pupper in your life who is the ultimate good boi.

a puppy with the treat in their mouth

BuzzFeed / Hannah Loewentheil

“My dog, Hudson, is a notoriously picky eater…like pickier than you can imagine. He often turns his nose in disgust to human food that’s on my plate. So finding treats that he’s excited to eat is always a big feat. I recently received a pack of these Wild Ones chicken tenders pet treats, and I’ve never seen Hudson so excited to eat anything. Not only does he love these chicken treats, but I actually feel good about giving them to him. When you browse through the aisles of any pet store, there are so many treats, and you have no idea what really goes into most of them. These Wild Ones treats are made of one single ingredient: Chicken (cage-free, non-GMO chicken from Georgia, for that matter). I’m fully aware that at the $22 price tag, it seems ridiculously expensive, but for a special treat for my dog that he loves and I feel good about feeing him, it’s well worth the splurge. Plus, you should see his puppy eyes when he sees me opening the bag.” —Hannah Loewentheil

A jar of Belif moisturizer that’ll give you the hydration you need this winter without the creamy sticky feeling you don’t love.

Sephora

“Aqua Bomb moisturizer is easily my desert island skincare product. Although I have dry-leaning combination skin, I hate most moisturizers because creamy formulas feel heavy and just yucky to me, especially under makeup. Aqua Bomb’s gel-like consistency absorbs like a dream. It’s soothing to stressed out skin in the winter and cooling through the heat of summer. I recommend it to friends of all skin types because it gives your skin that bouncy hydration it craves without feeling oily in the slightest. I’ve put it on every night and most mornings for years and have no plans of stopping anytime soon!” —Rachel Dunkel

A pair of Warby Parker frames to switch things up and get yourself a new fresh pair for the new year.

the frames with the top portion in brown and the bottom half in clear

Warby Parker

“I started wearing glasses regularly a few years ago when I found out the reason I was experiencing migraines and eye strain almost every single day for two months was because of astigmatism and nearsightedness. Knowing that glasses would now become a part of my daily life, I wanted to be sure I bought a pair that I felt cute in, but I am SO INDECISIVE. That is where Warby Parker comes in.

Their at-home try on program is FREE. You get to pick five frames you love, and they send them to you within a few days. You then have about a week to try them on, take pictures with them, consult your family and friends for their thoughts, and they provide a free shipping label for sending them back. You can do this more than once! You just can’t order a pair of glasses until your at-home try on has been return.

When it’s time to order, you can either upload your prescription (this is the quickest option!), or Warby Parker can call your eye doctor for you. You can also choose between various add-ons. For example, because I stare at a laptop screen most of the day, my glasses contain blue-light filtering to help lessen the strain on my eyes. I now own THREE pairs of glasses from Warby Parker, and I can honestly say that thanks to their excellent customer service and trendy frames, I will be a customer for life.

P.S. — If you have vision insurance and they help to cover the cost of glasses, Warby Parker can provide you with an insurance reimbursement form after you order!” —Sam Wieder

A Crock-Pot slow cooker for all your favorite winter-time meals. You think it, you can cook it!

BuzzFeed / Rachel Dunkel

“Kitchen gadgetry has come a long way. But when it comes to making immensely delicious, simple, comforting home-cooked meals, I don’t think there’s anything better than the Crock-Pot. Slow cooking is inarguably the best kind of cooking, BUT making time to dote on a bubbling dish on the stove all day is just…not it. The Crock-Pot allows you to dump in all of your ingredients in the morning, go about your business all day, and then sit down to the most amazing meal you’ve ever made eight hours later after barely lifting a finger.

^Take that pork, for example. In the morning, I threw a pork roast, garlic, onion, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, honey, ground ginger, gochugaru, and some stock in the Crock-Pot and eight hours later was greeted with tender, shreddy goodness. It’s literally the easiest appliance in the universe to use. There are only three settings that you choose between with a dial. You definitely don’t have to be a top chef to choose between High, Low, and Warm! I have a 6-quart Crock-Pot and we always have SO many leftovers. So all my meal planning-heads: This is a fantastic way to yield simple, delectable dishes for the week. And it may look difficult to clean, but think again! The stoneware insert and lid are dishwasher-safe, but even when I’ve lived in apartments without a dishwasher, I haven’t had much trouble getting stuck-on food out of there. As for the shiny exterior, a simple wipe-down should suffice!” —Rachel Dunkel

Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ (available in four sizes). Or if you just feel like browsing, check out all of Crock-Pot’s appliances here.

An OXO tea infuser because let’s be real — nothing is better than a warm cup of tea from your favorite mug curled up on the couch watching holiday movies!

a series of images showing the progression of using the tea infuser

BuzzFeed / Natalie Brown

“I think there’s no cozier way to end an evening than with a cup of herbal tea (hot or brewed double strength and poured over ice!), but despite the boxes of tea bags I’ll go through in a year, I never seem to finish my loose leaf tea because I hadn’t ever found an infuser I was happy with. Every tea ball I’ve tried is impossible to clean out, doesn’t leave enough room for all the leaves to fully ~bloom~, and eventually breaks in one way or another. And one ball in particular always let a few loose leaves through, which I didn’t love at the end of my cup. I have one David’s Tea infuser mug, but that basket doesn’t fit my favorite wider mugs from Anthropologie that I’ve gotten from my family as gifts over the years, and TBH when it’s 9:30 at night after a long day, I want to enjoy my preferred mugs! (It’s the little things!)

Enter the OXO tea infuser basket. It’s big enough to fit over my widest mugs, but not so big that it can’t also fit in regular and even my more narrow mugs. I can microwave my water, then ease the basket into the cup. (I’d love to have room for a kettle, but my apartment is just too small!) The infuser’s spacious enough to let all those herbs and tea leaves I pay good money for open to their fullest, most flavorful extent, but never lets even the smallest bits escape. It has a stainless lid that helps keep in some of the steam for a stronger brew, and that’s also edged with silicone so I can easily take it off without burning my fingers. I flip that lid upside down, use the wide, cool arms of the basket to pull it out of the cup, set the dripping basket on the lid, then retreat to my couch for one more episode of Parks & Rec. When I’m done, the leaves tap out into the trash, and I either rinse it well or pop it in the dishwasher along with my mug. I don’t know what more I could ask of it!” —Natalie Brown

Macmillan

“In Gideon, two not-quite-friends with undeniable queer energy, along with a cast of eight other necromancers and their sword-bearing cavaliers, descend on a decaying palace riddled with dangerous secrets after being summoned by the Emporer to take on the challenge. I inhaled the first two books of the trilogy (here’s the link to book two, BTW!), which are packed with emotion, humor, adventure, mystery, and a unique brand of gore, in about three day’s worth of spare time each. They’re the first books since Harry Potter that so many of my friends have read and love to talk about, and we can’t wait for book three.” —Natalie Brown
